UX Researcher. Our client team is seeking a passionate UX Researcher to join a massive digital transformation effort. The UX Researcher will be responsible for uncovering any and all unmet and unstated needs of users and establishing and maintaining a constant, growing and evolving customer feedback loop.

Essential functions:

  • Help uncover and define user needs, analyze data gather through various research methods and analytics and validate whether or not digital transformation efforts are meeting the needs of users.
  • Work directly with the entire product team across multiple squads to prioritize and specify features to deliver great new experiences.


On day one you will know how to:

  • identify the proper research methods needed to best meet the needs of the goals of the problems we are trying to understand
  • conduct or support primary user research studies with business stakeholders and users to gain user insights around met, unmet, stated and unstated needs
  • conduct or support secondary research efforts including analytics, user recordings and feedback, survey results, customer service call logs, internal usage reports, and others
  • validate concepts and prototypes to uncover additional insights and opportunities
  • translate research data gathered into actionable recommendations that help inform future efforts and can deliver recommendations to business partners and leaders in a consumable and delightful manner
  • define user research methods that most effectively inform strategic direction on future and current transformation efforts
  • are familiar with and have used a variety of unmoderated online research tools but are just as comfortable in a moderated setting
  • partner with a digital product team working with UX, UI, product, customer support, technology and other internal business partners

After 90 days you will:

  • have started to establish yourself as the go-to person on the team for all things related to user research, user behaviors, best practices in conducting the right research methods to gain the most insightful user data
  • have participated in several design sessions to help inform squads of the needs of the user
  • have participated design reviews with your teams to provide relevant feedback
  • have (or have started to) aggregate, analyze, share and communicate findings and insights to inform recommendations on the best digital experiences our customers want and need
  • have built/or supported the build of a database of user behaviors, triggers and other data points that can be easily extracted to support design decisions
  • be collaborating with strategic VOC partners and corporate customer insights team on strategic direction to best measure customer sentiment

A year from now you will:

  • have learned enough about our client’s complex business and systems to be able to articulate what you do and why it matters
  • be the go-to person on your team for all things related to user research, user behaviors, best practices conducting the right research to gain the right insights for your projects
  • have conducted several complete research initiatives that have effectively informed strategic direction on future and current transformation efforts such as concept testing, user testing, competitive analysis, persona building, task analysis, user story creation and user experience mapping
  • have formed meaningful relationships across squads and disciplines in the organization through deep collaboration within your product team, with stakeholders, marketing, analytics, online merchandising, IT and other business partners
  • have informed A/B and multi-variate testing, surveys, interviews and other user studies based on research conducted or provided
  • have visited with many of our customers across all the classes of trade

Qualifications:

  • embrace change
  • professional with 3-5 years of experience conducting, analyzing and communicating user research findings and insights
  • extended expertise in understanding the right methodologies for uncovering user needs and product opportunities
  • background in ethnography and/or cognitive science methods (ideal)
  • deeply passionate about the user and their experiences
  • understanding of human centric design principles and are passionate about user experiences
  • demonstrate having conducted and/or utilized moderated and unmoderated testing methods and tools to gain insights from users
  • enjoy sharing your knowledge with all, as applicable
  • bachelors or higher degree in HCI, UX research, cognitive science or other relevant human disciplines
  • worked in an agile or iterative work setting and enjoy co-locating with your entire team
  • worked in virtual teams
  • love learning new things and challenging yourself
  • don’t mind traveling about 50% of your time to get to know your users
  • have created and presented your work in multiple formats, in particular slide format (think Powerpoint primarily) to upper management, stakeholders and other business partners in a consumable and enjoyable manner

Bonus points for:

  • skills with evangelizing human centric design methodologies and the purpose of each
  • UX, UI or writing capability and portfolio to showcase
  • understanding of digital accessibility
  • design-thinking badge or coaching certification
  • PhD in a behavioral discipline
